Stem Cell Treatments – Facial Rejuvenation Therapy
Stem cell facial rejuvenation therapy is a non-surgical procedure that harnesses the science of stem cells to stimulate your body to create more collagen and fill in tissues with healthy blood flow, resulting in a glowing, more youthful appearance.
Stem cells are a special type of cell that exists in our bodies. They are younger types of cells (“baby cells”) that can regenerate and change shape into different types of cells, including muscle, skin and bones. Stem cells have a variety of applications in the field of medicine, with the major benefit being that they can change shape to adapt to different parts of the body.
Stem Cell Facelift
In a stem cell facelift, your stem cells regenerate into young, strong healthier facial skin. A stem cell “facelift” is not like a traditional surgical facelift. It works to rejuvenate your skin aesthetically rather than structurally. In fact, a stem cell facelift is completely non-surgical, non-invasive procedure utilizing injections of your own fat lipoaspirate (adipose) without any surgical cutting, lifting or sewing of your skin.
Any individual who desires an improvement in skin quality and texture without surgery can benefit from a stem cell facelift. This procedure is particularly appropriate for people with fine lines and wrinkles, sun-related damage, pigmentation and color changes as well as facial scarring.
The stem cell facelift uses nanofat technology (a form of fat grafting) to stimulate and enhance youthful regeneration of your skin. Nanofat is a type of fat obtained from other parts of the body (most often the thigh, hip or abdomen) that is rich in nutrients, vitamins and stem cells.
The procedure is performed in our office. Local anesthetic and special solutions are injected into the “harvest area” and the fat is extracted. The fat is then placed into a spinning centrifuge that separates out your body’s stem cells so that they can be extracted and concentrated. The concentrated fat is then injected in small amounts into the facial area(s) to be treated. The fat gently fills in the lines and wrinkles and smooths out the area for a younger, healthier appearance. Once this fat is deposited into the area of the face and neck, the stem cells promote healing and regeneration of more youthful skin.
Immediately following the procedure, it is normal to experience some swelling and reddening of the face. The swelling begins to subside within about 30 minutes after the procedure. You may ice the area to reduce further swelling.
Patients are asked to refrain from exercise for 24 hours following the procedure. Most patients can resume normal activity the following day, including application of makeup. Over the next 3-10 days, you may still experience some swelling and bruising that should lessen over that period. The overall healing will take effect over the course of 3-4 weeks and noticeable improvement will continue to be seen.
